Lettering Requirements
Certificate of Participation: 5 requirements:
1.Must remain in good standing as a contributing member of the team throughout the year.*
2.Display good sportsmanship, team spirit, outstanding dedication, and a positive attitude.
3.Must obey all training rules set forth by the coaches and the MN State High School League.
4.Attendance and effort at practice is expected, no more than 7 missed practices.
5.No more than 1 missed meet.
Certificate of Junior Varsity Award: 6 requirements
1.Must remain in good standing as a contributing member of the team throughout the year.*
2.Display good sportsmanship, team spirit, outstanding dedication, and a positive attitude.
3.Must obey all training rules set forth by the coaches and the MN State High School League.
4.Attendance and effort at practice is expected, no more than 5 missed practices.
5.No more than 1 missed meet.
6.Achieve a top 7 placement in the Junior Varsity competition
Certificate of Varsity Letter, 5 requirements:
1. Must remain in good sanding as a contributing member of the team throughout the year.*
2. Display good sportsmanship, team spirit, outstanding dedication, and a positive attitude.
3. Must obey all training rules set forth by the coaches and the MN State High School League.
4.Attendance and effort at practice is expected, no more than 3 missed practices.
5. Attendance at all meets.
In addition, swimmers must do one of the following:
1. Earn a total of 15 points during the regular duel meet season in the varsity competition.
2. Achieve a top 3 placement during a duel figure meet in the varsity competition.
3.Achieve a top 2 placement during a duel routine meet excluding he team competition or first place in the team competition.
4.Place 1-4 in routines at the section meet. Alternate swimmers who learn the whole routine will be counted as part of the team.
5.Loyalty to the sport. Participating for 3 years or more by the swimmer's senior year.
"Good standing" is to be defined by, but not limited to, any team suspension.
"Contributing member" is to be defined by, but not limited to, being supportive and encouraging, not negative and/or demeaning.
Lettering is ultimately up to the discretion of the coaches. In deciding which swimmers will be eligible for a letter, the coaches will adhere to the above standards as much as possible, but will be exceptions if the situation warrants.
Points earned in Varsity Figure Meets:
1st Place - 8 Points
2nd Place - 6 Points
3rd Place - 5 Points
4th Place - 4 Points
5th Place - 3 Points
6th Place - 2 Points
7th Place - 1 Point
Points Earned in Routine Meets:
Solos:
1st Place - 5 Points
2nd Place - 3 Points
3rd Place - 1 Point
Duets/Trios:
1st Place - 7 Points
2nd Place - 4 Points
3rd Place - 2 Points
Teams:
1st Place - 10 Points
2nd Place - 2 Points
